We’re always proud to share examples of apps created with our tools and benefitting from new features such as elasticsearch. This month we unveil Les Inrockuptibles magazine app with brand new architecture and attractive visual identity. It also has an access to an archive full of thousand of magazines and is boosted with an elasticsearch feature. It’s not only beautifully redesigned but also provides new revenue opportunities thanks to a possibility to pay for historical titles.
Les Inrockuptibles is a well-known French music, rock, culture  and underground magazine. They have been using our technology for a while to offer their famous issues to mobile readers. Recently they relaunched with a new visual identity. And they wanted to strengthen their magazine app too thanks to a new design, access to the entire magazine ecosystem and search options.

Ultimate reader experience – easy navigation and structure

The redesigned magazine app includes four visually attractive and separate sections with different magazines published on regular basis. These new architecture follows all the latest UX trends and makes the experience fast and easy for users. Thanks to clear colours differentiating magazine themes it’s easy to find the correct issue. Then click to social media channels and even access an archive full of old magazines including the very first issue from 1995.

In-depth search and preview of results – elasticsearch feature

To top all the changes off, the new innovative feature has been added – elasticsearch. It’s a great example of an digital magazine app using a new way of searching supported by elasticsearch. Thanks to it readers can browse not only each magazine but also search for articles, titles and even words and mentions. All the results are then displayed with an easy to read  and scrolls preview allowing to quickly check relevancy.
We’re pleased with a new app architecture and design. Separate colour identity help readers easily recognise the magazine they want to read. And we can offer them a possibility to browse the historical issues too – not only delighting loyal fans but also boosting our revenue through paid for old magazines available on mobile.
